Just wondering which is more effective on smaller plants, Q-tip or spray?

How small are the plants and which fertilizer will you be using? I've been making MaxSea solutions and applying it with a dropper/pipette. Spraying will likely lead to algae buildup on the soil since it tends to cover a lot more than just the plant, also it could leach down into the soil and get to the roots. I've also tried Q-tips but mainly when I was feeding fish food powder to sundews. It works ok, but I still prefer the maxsea drops.

The plants are about an inch in diameter(one sarracenia seedling and one baby flytrap). I'm using 30-10-10

The more effective/easier is spray. The better option for flytraps is Q-tip for the reasons SundewWolf stated. If your growing other carnivores, like Nepenthes for instance, you could consider careful spraying.

Nothing exotic. Just dilute Maxsea fertilizer delivered with an eyedropper or pipette directly on the leaf.
