Digestive Juices Burning Pitcher?

Can the digest juices of a nepenthes start burning a pitcher? I have a pitcher that has a red/brown ring forming around the level of the digestive juices.

I've noticed if I slosh the fluids in a full pitcher, the top part of the pitcher will die.

This should be caused by "too full". In my experience this can result from over-fertilizing the pitcher. Any more would cause the entire pitcher to burn
