Hello so my name is Jared and I've wrote on here before about a czech giant ceph well I've got several of these plants and all look great but for reason this particular cultivar just looks so much diffrent then the rest and I can't determine its health conditions I do give this one a slight lower light then the rest because its so darn green and I can't get it to darken up much I had it in very bright light for a while but I heard if u give these lower light you get larger pitchers and since its a "giant" I wanted to see its full potential idk wether to sit it back in bright light or just leave it alone for a while any suggest? Does anyone think it should stay in brighter or light or no? My main question is this plant seems to get brown spots all over it even small ones on the rib of pitchers is this normal for these type plants or am i doing something wrong they also have a little brown tips on the leaves but none have died yet because of the small crisp brown spots on the tips either way any help would be appreciated I just like to have some advice from someone more experienced this is my first year with them I haven't killed one yet and I'm trying every way possible to keep it that way being very cautious I put up some pics so if these look normal please lmk thanks so much for the input.

It doesn't look unhealthy. Might be an anthocyanin free mutant. You've got it under bright lights? Is it actively growing?

I'd try taking it out of the pot and looking at the roots to see if there's a problem there.

The yellowing and browning around the edges of the leaves concern me. How deep is the pot, what is it potted in, and how much do you water it?

It's in long fiber sphagnum moss I got it from rainbow carnivorous plants I'm not a fan of the moss but I've only had this plant less then a month it is growing pretty good actually prolly about 10 new baby pitchers growing right now n yeah its in pretty decent light I toned it down because I thot I was burning the tips or the leaves this specific cultivar just seems to have these brown spots they were on the plant when I received it far as the blowing tips there new I hear tearing off sphagnum moss off the roots are a pain anyone ever dealt with stripping spag from cephs?

I water it based on when it drys out I treat it like my nepethes no water til its needed setting it in water would always worry me n when I do water it I use a cappilary water mat so no chance of sitting water can ever get close to my roots. I have been using maxsea every couple weeks do u think it sitting on the leaves very long could cause this? I use a circulating fan 24/7 with humidifier to keep my hum up as well.

Do you have other ceph plants growing by it? If so then how are they doing? How much light does it get daily?

Yes all of my cephs are sitting in the same place my other ones are doing good like I said none of um are dieing off or anything I just wondered why these spots are on this particular plant. Do you think it's fertlizer burn from maxsea maybe staying on the leaves or the residue? It's under a 1500 watt phizon led light so I'm pretty sure it's getting plenty.

Anyone else have any ideas it seems like I'm getting browning on the front of the pitchers some and on the tops of the lids on the front edges do u think maybe it's fertlizer burn maybe?

As a kneejerk reaction, I'd repot into fresh soil and inspect the entire plant when you do that. Pay special attentiont to the plant crowns since there could be some problems lurking in there out of view.

Have you used any chemicals on the plant recently?

I'd stop fertilizing altogether until you get more confidence in how the plant is doing.

Also, I found a thread about cephalotus greening and the original poster had very similar symptoms to yours. Eventually, the plant died but he did manage to take a leaf cutting which struck. After that the thread died out but you might want to try doing that just as insurance.

Well I hope that isn't the case I get blowing leaves on others from time to time just never so much on one plant as this one but yeah I was thinking the same to lay off the fertlizer for awhile I would like to look at the roots like others have Said but anyone who grows these no messing with the roots is one of the worst things u can do and it will be my last alternative I just got this plant a little over a month ago I didn't want to put it into this type of shock not unless it's absolutely necessary. I do appreciate the advice ill just keep monitoring it and if it keeps getting darker I'll pull it out n if it looks to bad just save what I can. From what I've always seen soft brown pitchers and dieing leaves mufiple is a rot issue nothing has died yet so its really confusing.......
