Hello! My first time here! I have a butterwort that I got back in November/December and it was doing really great! But now it like holds its leaves and is growing tall so its tipping over. I also noticed it has :| some new roots walking around. Is it trying to runaway?
Thank you so much for any advice!

Any idea what species or hybrid it is?

What conditions do you have it in? Pot, soil, water, and light specifications? (Does the pot have drainage holes? Is it fully glazed? How bright is the light, and how many hours does the plant get? Rain/ distilled water?)

It probably needs more light, but at this point I’d try to propagate it from leaves. Also, roots like that are normal.

Hello! Thank you for the replies!
Light It's by a window that gets some and has a plant light for 12 hours (It shares it with few other plants).
Soil I can't remember but the seller sent some.
The pot it an orchid pot and it's half glazed with drainage on the bottom.
It only gets rain or distilled water.

I think this is the type, gigantea (?)

I live in Florida so I can definitely get him some more light

Thank you both again!

Okay. Thanks for the information.
The pot should be fully glazed or plastic with drainage holes.

A general carnivorous plant soil should be 50/50 peat/perlite or sand, no fertilizer (so don’t use Miracle-Gro).

The light should be strong, bright light, a very sunny windowsill or outdoors in the sun. Make sure to adjust it slowly, moving it bit by bit into brighter environments. You can also slowly raise it to the grow light or lower the light to it.

Oh oh oh, I know this one, I had the SAME EXACT issue with my pinguicula! It's not getting enough light so it's trying to run away and "walk" towards light.

Let me show you what happened to mine:

It was like this after a few weeks of growing in poor lighting conditions:

Image

I dragged it back into the pot and put it under my growlights, and over time it turned into TWO plants. The original "growth point" where the leaves kept unfurling eventually lay down flat and sprouted off a bunch of roots, and the "stalk" died off and turned into two plants:

I just separated them into two pots today, just had to snip off the dead "stalk" that used to be the plant:

without flower difficult to determine it.
it lacks light, so if you have the possibilities, take it outside in the shade, half shade or morning sun, sheltered from the rain
