Hello! I just purchased a Ampullaria, it’s approximately 2’ tall. I would like to put it in a fish tank with the top of the plant coming out of the top of the tank. Would this work? My purpose for doing this is to help with humidity and temperature. Was thinking if the bottom of the plant is in the tank it would be ok. What do you think? I should be receiving it in the next few days.

Well just bag it would be easier unless you are looking to create a terrarium. Anyhow if plant is protruding from top then i don’t think the tank has much use for humidity.

Well I was actually kinda wanting to make a terrarium. The guy I bought it from said it will be shipped bagged so I could slowly acclimate it to my current household humidity

Ampullaria should do fine in a aquarium. I have always avoided it because its super lowland, I do have a half ampullaria plant "ladyluck"

You can grow the plant in a tank, but it won't be much use if any part of the plant is outside the tank.

Would I be better off to just get a heat mat to sit it on? My main concern is to keep it warm like it’s supposed to be. I could turn the heat mat off at night so the temperature would drop some.
